Prepares v1.42.0 with Claude/Codex installation, agent-neutral configuration, preserved legacy settings, and the macOS literal-help notification fix.

Current candidate: 377c543d5ca4de6f9efcef9546a0c82a63bcefa7. All source CI and the release artifact matrix pass. The draft has been rebuilt from this commit; 23 downloaded asset digests and 22 checksum entries were verified, with clean embedded VCS provenance.

Release build and artifact checks

Final downloaded-artifact E2E passed: curl/menu installation for both agents and Codex alone, automatic hook registration, preservation across repeat installation, v1.41.0 Claude upgrade with notifications before/after, five real Codex CLI turns and three expected deliveries, Linux D-Bus receipt, and signed/notarized macOS native API receipt including literal --help content.

Downloads were served through a loopback mirror of the verified private draft assets. Claude hook inputs were synthetic; Codex used a deterministic local provider and actual CLI-returned trust hashes. Interactive trust clicks, visible banners/audio/focus, first macOS permission prompts, Windows Codex launcher, and live TUI question hooks remain outside qualification. Publication remains a separate owner decision.
