Fix MathJax rendering bugs and drop the Abstract blockquote - #2

Two of the LaTeX blocks broke under kramdown's markdown escaping:
- \left\{ ... \right\} got its backslash-escaped braces stripped by
kramdown before MathJax saw them ("Missing or unrecognized
delimiter for \left"); restructured the uncertainty-set definition
to avoid literal \{ \} delimiters entirely.
- Bare * in \theta^*, \phi^* was parsed as markdown emphasis instead
of passed through to MathJax ("Missing open brace for superscript");
replaced with \ast wrapped in braces.
Also removed the Abstract blockquote per feedback that it's redundant
with the TL;DR.
