Fix MKW water feedback and cup intro movie pacing by default - #737
Restore water-wave displacement when the exact affected shader receives empty depth inputs, and publish the collision height map to guest memory so karts continue to float correctly.
Skip the extra present-pacing wait while a large MKW movie is producing frames, allowing cup intro movies and their audio to play at full speed. Menus and gameplay retain normal pacing.
Ports the fixes from #553 and #729 onto nx2-experimental at e35d62c1e. The three opt-in switches are removed. Water changes remain restricted by shader fingerprints and the collision image's exact format and dimensions; the modified MKW shader uses a separate disk-cache directory. Movie activity is restricted to MKW, kept in the current graphics session, updated after frame output independently of release fences, and expires after 250 ms or resets on decoder stop.
The existing experimental shader diagnostics and decoder timing are preserved. The diff contains only these fixes and a regression test for movie scope, expiry, reset, and session isolation. There are no workflow, general settings, or unrelated optimization changes.
Windows Release PGO build succeeded. All 54 Ampere tests and the new movie-pacing test pass. The full suite completed with 242/243 passing; the NUP default-language metadata editing test failed. An earlier full-suite attempt crashed before reporting results. In-game comparison remains for user testing. Supersedes #553.

This change adds Mario Kart World movie-aware vblank pacing, a guarded zero-depth shader fallback, and compute collision-image publication to guest memory. It also adds movie activity tests and a title-specific pipeline-cache subdirectory.

Summary
Movie activity tracking src/core/hle/service/nx2_movie_pacing.h, src/tests/CMakeLists.txt, src/tests/core/nx2_movie_pacing.cpp
Adds a large-movie predicate and activity tracking based on frame timestamps. Tests cover the predicate, activity duration, subsequent frames, and reset behavior.
Native shader lowering applies a guarded fallback that inserts three instructions for the specified program. Mario Kart World uses a separate pipeline-cache subdirectory.
Compute dispatch handling obtains the native program key. For the specified key and constant-buffer conditions, it publishes a qualifying collision image to guest memory after dispatch submission.
Mario Kart World gameplay may take a small frame-time hit from a GPU wait each time the collision map is published. Water, movie pacing and publication are otherwise tightly gated. Measuring the cost in-game is advisable, but it should not block the merge.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to 39a33
The changes are narrowly targeted to movie timing and water behavior. Strict image checks constrain memory updates, and the timing override expires quickly. No security vulnerability was verified, but session-transfer isolation and some failure-recovery behavior remain unverified.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — Each accepted publication targets one fixed-layout 256-by-256 image, representing 512 KiB, through the active compute channel's descriptor table and GPU memory manager. The collision caller checks a shader fingerprint rather than a title ID; that fingerprint narrows compatibility scope but is not an authorization boundary against guest code reproducing the shader.
Security Findings and Attack Paths
observed — The guest-controlled CB0 handle reaches a new guest-memory write only after descriptor-index resolution and image checks. Publication requires linear R16G16B16A16_SNORM storage, exact dimensions and pitch, one layer and mip, download eligibility and a fully mapped guest range. Its destination comes from the resolved image, not a caller-supplied host pointer. No host-memory escape was demonstrated by the inspected path.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — Movie identity is captured from the configuring thread's owner process rather than from a guest command word. Activity is recorded after frame output only for the MKW program ID and qualifying decoded width. Its timestamp must be nonzero and less than 250 ms old to bypass pacing. The pacing consumer does not independently recheck the invoking process's identity, so transferred-session isolation is not established by these checks alone.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — The movie timestamp is atomic, decoder flush resets qualifying activity, and destruction joins the worker before resetting it. Activity belongs to the graphics-system session, not an individual decoder: sibling video sessions share the same value and qualifying cleanup can reset another sibling's activity. Expiry still bounds residual bypass state; per-decoder ownership is not guaranteed.
Hardening Proposals
proposed — Consider coupling guest-memory publication to an explicit successful-dispatch outcome, distinguishing completed GPU work from a skipped producer. This would strengthen failure containment across the GPU-to-guest state transition; it is not a verified vulnerability fix.

Note: each publication stalls the GPU thread until all submitted GPU work finishes.
runtime.Finish() waits for all submitted GPU work. The caller DispatchCompute holds texture_cache.mutex and buffer_cache.mutex during this wait. The collision map dispatch runs during MKW gameplay, so this adds a full CPU/GPU sync to the affected frames. The dimension and format guards limit the scope to one image. They do not limit how often the sync happens.
Measure the frame-time cost in gameplay. If the cost is significant, consider a narrower wait. One option is to wait only on the tick of the download copy instead of calling Finish().

Lichii port (Eglantine-Community/Eglantine#737, merged to upstream nx2 through #755):
- Only the water half is taken: the wave displacement fallback for
empty depth inputs (upstream #553, 9530cecfc4) and the collision height map
write-back (upstream #553, 13c88a9599). The movie pacing half (upstream #729, klova5's
447c9244a9) is left out: nx2 serves the gsv/vi2/vdec sessions on three
host threads (am.cpp, Lichii #659), the root cause of the game asking for
decoded frames ~34 times a second while vi2 blocked its only thread.
- The mkw_zero_depth_v1 pipeline cache directory is left out. nx2 keys a
native program's pipeline by the hash of its lowered code
(GenericEnvironment::Analyze), so the patched shader gets a new key and
the cached unpatched one is never used; moving the directory would only
throw away every Mario Kart World cache entry and break the Qt
"remove shader cache" paths for it.
- The dispatch hook is placed after nx2's DispatchCompute setup, where
qmd is defined, and the include follows nx2's list.

* texture_cache: write Mario Kart World's collision map back without a GPU wait
The ported write-back downloaded the 256x256 collision height map and
called runtime.Finish() after every dispatch of the collision program,
so the GPU thread waited for the GPU to go idle at least once a frame on
any course with water. Queue the image on the existing preemptive
download path instead (the one BindRenderTarget uses): the next fence
records the copy, and the fencing thread writes it to guest memory when
the GPU reaches that fence. nx2 signals a fence per compute dispatch, so
the map lands within the GPU's own latency, without the stall.
The wave fallback inserts three instructions into the lowered program
and moves everything after them. Upstream checked that its lowering of
this shader has no branches; nx2's lowering differs, so skip the
fallback (with a warning) if the lowered program has any branch, call or
SSY/PBK/PCNT push, instead of corrupting its targets.
Follows up Eglantine-Community/Eglantine@39a33c4a78 (upstream #737).
