I've reduced each code PR from 15 heavy build/test/package jobs to 13 and removed both macOS archive jobs from PRs. The full 15-job matrix, including macOS Intel and Apple Silicon, remains on master pushes and manual runs. No scheduled runs are added.
Superseded commits share one concurrency group per workflow and PR. Cancellation is enabled only for pull_request events; every other run gets a unique group, protecting queued and running master/manual work. I used CanopyX #125 as the reference.
Shared change detection checks the complete PR diff, including deletions and both sides of moves. Standalone Markdown and Website changes skip heavy work. README.md, Docs, generated help, schemas, source, tests, benchmarks and build inputs retain coverage: the packages embed README.md and module packaging consumes Docs. Shared result gates accept a skip only when successful change detection explicitly selected it; failed or unexpectedly skipped jobs remain failures. Existing build/test job names are preserved. Both master policy APIs confirm there are no configured required contexts: effective rules are empty and branch protection reports Branch not protected.
Dependabot checks NuGet and GitHub Actions weekly on Monday, retaining the existing groups, multi-directory NuGet coverage, cooldown and one-open-PR limit. There is no npm manifest. Worker counts are unchanged: xUnit already uses collection parallelism, and measured .NET test steps were 15 seconds on Linux and 76 seconds on Windows; the PowerShell test steps were 45 seconds for 7 and 181 seconds for 5.1. These did not establish a large serial test bottleneck that justifies a worker change.

The before measurement is #157's final successful code run, at the same product source now merged into master: .NET, packages, native archives, and PowerShell. All four were created at 2026-10-30 09:57:57 UTC; the last completed at 11:21:34 UTC. The after run preserves that product source and every build/test/package step. Hosted queue conditions vary, so elapsed times are observations rather than a controlled speedup claim.
The real prose-only proof used this same PR with only a temporary ROADMAP.md comment above a base containing the workflow candidate. All four workflows passed with every heavy job skipped and all eight selection/result jobs successful: .NET, archives, packages, PowerShell. They ran from 21:24:52 to 21:25:09 UTC on 29 October. The temporary commit and base branch are removed.
I initially stacked this PR on #157 to use its SDK/package fixes. After #157 merged, I rebased this CI-only commit onto master and retargeted the PR. Its strict Release build and all package-validation steps are preserved; its new library-package job is included in both selection and the package result gate. The final diff touches only workflows and Dependabot.
Local validation passes: actionlint 1.7.12, YAML parsing, whitespace checks, coverage-selection/gate logic review and comparison proving the merged build/test/package steps are preserved. The stacked candidate passed all four hosted workflows. Final master-base run: .NET, packages, archives, PowerShell; all four passed on the final master-based head. They were created at 2026-10-30 14:36:16 UTC and the last completed at 14:42:23 UTC: 6m 07s end to end. All 21 executed jobs succeeded (13 heavy jobs plus eight short selection/result jobs), with no macOS runner used.
The generated automatic dependency-submission check remains red with NU1004 in Benchmarks/EvtxFidelity/EventViewerX.EvtxFidelity.csproj. I compared the underlying raw errors: the PR run has the identical single failure as fresh master. This is an existing benchmark lock-file inconsistency; automatic submission remains active and locked restore is preserved. The baseline exception applies to that check, while every test/package workflow is green.

Walkthrough
Reusable workflows now select CI coverage and archive targets. Test workflows use those selections to gate jobs and validate their results. Dependabot NuGet and GitHub Actions updates now run weekly on Mondays.
Changes: CI coverage and test workflow orchestration
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Coverage rules and archive targets .github/workflows/ci-changes.yml
The reusable workflow evaluates pull request paths to select build coverage. It also provides archive targets, with macOS targets limited to non-pull-request events.
Test workflow integration .github/workflows/test-cli-archives.yml, .github/workflows/test-dotnet.yml, .github/workflows/test-packages.yml, .github/workflows/test-powershell.yml
The test workflows call the reusable coverage workflow, gate jobs on its build output, configure pull request concurrency, and pass job results to the reusable validator.
Workflow result validation .github/workflows/ci-result.yml
The reusable workflow checks the coverage selection and verifies that other jobs have the expected result.

EvotecIT/EventViewerX#157: Adds a package job to the workflow that this change now gates and includes in result validation.
Merge Risk: Low · up to 9008f
The coverage gates reject failed selection and unexpected job statuses. Mergeability risk is bounded to the unresolved concern about PR-wide cancellation interrupting validation; retain owner awareness of that limitation.
