Material for MkDocs reaches end of life on 2027-05-05, and its maintainers now build Zensical, so the docs site moves there before that date. Zensical reads the same Markdown and builds the same 16 pages. It also stops checking two things MkDocs checked: pages left out of the nav and links rooted at /. It drops both settings without a warning. The content fix this needed, the two troubleshooting links to the gate record that the site does not publish, merged earlier in #510.
What changes
mkdocs.yml becomes zensical.toml, with the same nav, exclusions, palette and Markdown extensions. The install/ redirect is built in, so mkdocs-redirects goes. It adds instant navigation, a "Copy as Markdown" button on every page and an llms.txt index.
docs/requirements-docs.txt pins zensical==0.1.0. Dependabot bumps it monthly, and CI-13 in CI-CD.md says so.
The Docs workflow builds with python -m zensical build --clean --strict, then runs .github/scripts/site-check.py on the built site. That script fails on a page missing from the nav, a nav entry for a missing file, a missing image, or a link rooted at /.
theme.css: Zensical's header is white in the light scheme. The light site name kept its colour there and the light logo mark vanished. The name now takes the wordmark colour on the dark scheme only, and on the light scheme the logo sits on the app icon's dark plate.
Verified
Strict build on Python 3.13 with zensical==0.1.0: exit 0. site-check: 16 pages, 0 errors, prefix /akou/.
A link to a missing page, added on purpose, fails the build with exit 1.
The built pages are the 17 index.html files the MkDocs build of main has, the install/ redirect stub among them. llms.txt is written.
Screenshots in both schemes: the header name and logo read on both, and instant navigation changes page without a reload, with no console errors.
Biome passes on the changed files, and tests/dependabot.test.ts passes.

Documentation
The documentation site has moved to a new publishing platform, retaining its navigation, search, redirects, and theme options.
Updated styling refines the site header and logo appearance across color schemes.
Documentation builds now check for broken links, missing pages, and other publishing issues.
Chores
Documentation site dependencies are scheduled for monthly updates.
Material for MkDocs reaches end of life on 2027-05-05 and its maintainers now build Zensical, so the
docs site moves there before that date. Zensical reads the same Markdown and builds the same pages,
with instant navigation, a Copy as Markdown button and an llms.txt index. It silently drops the
nav and absolute-link validation MkDocs ran, so the Docs workflow now runs site-check.py on the
built site to keep those checks.

Walkthrough
The documentation site moves from MkDocs to Zensical. The change adds a Zensical configuration and a built-site checker. The workflow builds and checks the site, and limits artifact upload and deployment to non-PR runs on main.
Changes: Zensical documentation build migration
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Site configuration and presentation mkdocs.yml, zensical.toml, docs/requirements-docs.txt, docs/stylesheets/theme.css, .gitignore, .github/dependabot.yml, docs/CI-CD.md
The Zensical configuration replaces the MkDocs configuration. The docs dependency pin and theme styling change. The build-output comment and monthly Dependabot entry are updated.
A new checker validates the configuration and generated site. It checks links, navigation, and configured outputs, then prints sorted errors and returns a failing status when checks fail.
Build and deployment workflow .github/workflows/docs.yml
The workflow runs a strict clean Zensical build and the site checker. It uploads and deploys only for non-PR runs on main, and updates its path filters and Pages setup notes.
The docs site build is unaffected for users. The post-build checker can occasionally miss a stray page or report a false error. Fix these in a follow-up or before merge; none of them should block publishing.

that calls resolve so targets reported as "ABS" are rejected, while preserving
the existing check for missing Path targets.
- Around line 162-163: Update the URL handling in the ATTR loop to HTML-decode
each attribute value before passing it to resolve, and ensure resolution
preserves semicolons that are part of the URL path.
- Around line 130-132: Update the URL handling around urlparse so absolute URLs
whose host matches the configured site_url are resolved to their corresponding
paths in the built site and checked like relative links. Continue skipping
genuinely external URLs, and preserve the existing handling for empty URLs and
fragment-only links.
- Around line 152-153: Update the page-selection condition that appends to pages
so non-stub content pages such as guide.html are included when directory URLs
are disabled, allowing them to receive the navigation and Copy as Markdown
checks. If those checks cannot support non-directory output, explicitly reject
that output mode instead of silently skipping the checks.
- Line 57: Replace the double-quote-only ATTR regex with HTML attribute parsing
that recognizes valid single-quoted, double-quoted, and unquoted href and src
values. Preserve the existing checks for missing images and root-absolute links
across all recognized attribute forms.

…n the site check
The shared post-build check read href/src with a double-quote regex, so a
single-quoted or unquoted raw HTML link to a missing file passed, and text in
inline code or scripts was read as links. It now parses the HTML. It also
checks full URLs into the site itself, every #fragment against the target
page's ids, a copy button pointing outside the site, and it fails when there
is no site_url or canonical link to take the path prefix from.

Zensical gives table-of-contents anchors the md-nav__link class, so a page's
own #heading links counted it as reachable from the navigation and a stray
page passed. #top and text fragments are valid without a matching id. Pages
are read as UTF-8 whatever the runner's locale.
