Summary

The Events 404 page has a pet that follows the pointer, and it needs Patch to walk left as well as right. The rules forbid mirroring Patch by hand, so this adds an approved walk-left/ set, generated by the script:

  • cut-mascot.mjs
    • Builds walk-left/ from the walk files whenever the walk is rebuilt, or on its own with node scripts/cut-mascot.mjs walk-left (seconds, no tracing).
    • SVGs get one mirroring group around their artwork, PNGs are flopped, and the WebP loops are rebuilt from the flopped frames with the walk's own encoder settings and timing (8 × 120 ms).
    • Frame N of walk-left/ lines up with walk frame N, so a turn mid-stride doesn't jump.
  • Files: mascot/walk-left/, original/walk-left/ and compressed/walk-left/, with the same sizes as the walk cycle.
  • Docs:
    • mascot/README.md and the brand page document the set.
    • Rule 2 now says: to head left, use walk-left/; never flip the other files with CSS.
    • The gallery shows the loop and its frames.

Test plan

  • Rendered the mirrored vector frames next to the originals: an exact mirror, on the same ground line.
  • WebP loops have 8 frames at 120 ms each, 512 × 352, as in the walk.
  • npm run build: 20 pages, all internal links valid, and walk-left files published under /kit/mascot/.
