Step 3 of the plan to 0.1.0.

Fresh-start check

I cloned the repo into an empty folder and followed Getting started exactly as written:

  • Prerequisites, Verible, the PDK script and the services all set up as described.
  • .env copied unchanged from the example. The API built and started. With no key, the AI is off, as the guide says.
  • pnpm dev:web built the WebAssembly on first start.
  • A project created from the LED blinker starter reached Ready for expert review: examples pass, every planted mistake is caught, and DRC, LVS and timing are clean.
  • cargo test --workspace and the web typecheck pass.

No step was missing or wrong, so the guide itself is unchanged. The results table is in docs/release-rehearsal.md.

Not checked:

  • Downloading the 7.5 GB LibreLane image over the network; it was already on the machine.
  • A machine without Rust or Node installed.

README

A new section, What works, and what doesn't yet.

  • Works today:
    • Starter-sized designs go from words to a clean layout.
    • The examples, coverage and planted-mistake tools, plus the "why" explanations and small-fix repair.
    • Live co-editing.
    • Running from a clean clone.
  • Not yet:
    • Larger designs, and the full Verilog/SystemVerilog language.
    • What only an expert can sign off: pads, scan, power-up, timing-annotated simulation, analog, and the go/no-go.
    • AI features need an API key and cost money.
    • Only tested on Linux/aarch64.

Step 3 of the plan to 0.1.0. The repository was cloned into an empty
folder and Getting started followed as written: tools, PDK, services,
.env from the example, the API, the web app (WebAssembly built on first
start), a starter project to "Ready for expert review", and the tests. No
step was missing or wrong. The record is in docs/release-rehearsal.md.

The README gets a "What works, and what doesn't yet" section.
