Summary

This PR prevents shared uv caches from preserving or reusing interpreter-bound
environments-v2 script environments across runners. A cache restored by a
runner with a different Python patch version can make the Windows venv launcher
exit 103 before the action’s first script runs.

This is a prerequisite for PR #412;
its feature changes remain separate.

Review walkthrough

  • Start with the CI workflow
    and Rust release action
to see the cache-save input and restore-time prune ordering. Cache-writing
setup-uv steps use prune-cache: true; uv-using lanes and composite actions
prune after setup-uv and before their first uv command, including when a
    caller restored the shared cache.
  • Read the prune script
for the retained-download boundary, outcome metric, and preserved failure
    status.
  • Then inspect the cache-prune contract tests
for the isolated environment removal and subsequent uv invocation, plus the
    generated ordering test.
  • The Rust wrapper-scoping tests
clear host-configured Cargo wrapper state while still testing the intended
    wrapper behavior.
  • The ADR,
    developer guide,
    and user guide
record the cache policy and its rationale.

Validation

  • make check-fmt — passed; 592 files already formatted.
  • make lint — passed.
  • make typecheck — passed.
  • make test — passed: 4,510 passed, 158 skipped, 15 snapshots.
  • CodeScene review of the cache-prune contract tests — passed with no new
    findings (score 10.0).
  • git diff --check — passed.

References

Treat the setup-uv cache as untrusted for `environments-v2`. An entry
there is a virtual environment bound to the interpreter that built it,
and a cache saved on one runner is restored on another whose Python
patch version can differ. The Windows venv launcher then exits 103 with
"did not find executable" before the action's first script runs, which
is what stopped every Windows `build-release` lane on #412.

Both controls are needed because they close different halves of the
window. Every caching `astral-sh/setup-uv` step in a lane or action that
runs `uv` now passes `prune-cache: true`, so no environment is ever
saved and the cache key lineage moves away from archives that already
carry one. Every composite action that runs `uv` also prunes once after
setup and before its first invocation, so an environment restored by an
earlier step of the calling job is removed before it can be used;
`prune-cache` alone does not cover that, since it only governs the save.

`tests/workflows/test_uv_cache_prune.py` holds both controls: it fails
if a cache-writing setup-uv step lacks the input, if a composite action
that runs `uv` has no prune step, or if that step comes after a `uv`
invocation.

Also make `test_rustc_wrapper_scoping.py` independent of the host cargo
config. A machine that sets `build.rustc-wrapper` in
`~/.cargo/config.toml`, as this repository's development hosts do for
compile admission, made the patterns that deliberately decline
`RUSTC_WRAPPER` inherit it anyway. Their `cargo build` then queued for
an admission slot and hit the test's 240 s deadline. The tests now clear
`CARGO_BUILD_RUSTC_WRAPPER`, which ranks below the `RUSTC_WRAPPER` they
set, so the wrapper under test is still exercised wherever it is not
declined.

Summary

  • Prevent reuse of interpreter-bound uv script environments across Python patch versions. Set prune-cache: true on cache-writing setup-uv steps and prune restored caches before the first uv command in affected workflows and composite actions.
  • Add tests for cache configuration, prune-step ordering, manifest discovery, and pruning behaviour. Clear CARGO_BUILD_RUSTC_WRAPPER in the Rust wrapper test to isolate it from host Cargo configuration.
  • Document the policy in the user and developer guides, changelogs, and ADR 0009. No new execplan document was identified.
  • The supplied context reports that 155 focused prune tests passed and that make test passed with 4,509 passed, 158 skipped, and 0 failed. It also reports successful make check-fmt, make lint, make typecheck, make markdownlint, make nixie, shellcheck .github/scripts/prune_uv_cache.sh, and cs delta main.

Walkthrough

Composite actions and workflow jobs now configure uv cache pruning and remove restored cache contents before uv commands. A shared script reports pruning results and preserves uv’s failure status. Tests check cache settings, ordering and script behaviour. Rust wrapper tests clear a host-configured Cargo wrapper.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title accurately describes the main change: preventing archive and reuse of interpreter-bound uv script environments. It also references PR #412, which the description identifies as the dependent change.

Full details: Testing (Overall)

Explanation

Accept the testing coverage. tests/workflows/test_uv_cache_prune.py:588-626 checks every cache-writing setup-uv step in actions and detected workflow jobs. :629-685 checks prune ordering before the first uv use, including caller-restored caches. :687-782 covers invalid, valid, inherited, and generated step orders. :463-530 executes the manifest-defined prune step against a real environments-v2 environment, verifies removal, metrics, and a later uv run. :537-585 verifies failure-status preservation and summary-write warnings. Pytest collects tests/workflows through pytest.ini:8-12. These tests would fail for missing, misplaced, no-op, or status-swallowing implementations.

Full details: User-Facing Documentation

Explanation

The changed user-facing cache behaviour is clearly documented in docs/users-guide.md:423-430. The guide explains that uv retains reusable downloads, does not save interpreter-bound script environments, why Python patch-version changes can break restored environments, when prune-cache: true applies, and that actions prune caller-restored caches before the first uv command. It also states that callers do not need to change workflow configuration, so no migration document is required for this internal safety change.

Full details: Developer Documentation

Explanation

The pull request documents the new uv cache boundary in docs/developers-guide.md:880-895. It explains environments-v2, prune-cache: true, restore-time prune_uv_cache.sh ordering, the outcome metric, failure-status behaviour, and the contract tests. The architectural decision is recorded in the new accepted docs/adr/0009-prune-uv-script-environments.md:1-47, which the developer guide links. No roadmap item or new execplan is introduced, and no additional locale documentation is present.

Full details: Module-Level Documentation

Explanation

The previous documentation failure is resolved. .github/scripts/prune_uv_cache.sh now has a module-level header comment at lines 3-8. It states the script’s purpose, retained package downloads, metric emission, failure-status preservation, and its position after cache setup and before the first uv command. The changed Python modules also begin with module docstrings. Prior failure addressed: The new header comment in .github/scripts/prune_uv_cache.sh:3-8 documents purpose, cache boundary, workflow relationship, metric output, and preserved failure status.

Full details: Testing (Unit And Behavioural)

Explanation

Pass the testing check. The new behavioural test loads and executes the manifest-defined Prune restored uv cache step through Bash, seeds a real uv run --with environment, verifies removal, and runs a later real uv command successfully (tests/workflows/test_uv_cache_prune.py:396-530). The same action step is exercised with a failing uv stub and must preserve status 37 and emit the failure metric (:537-561). Static tests cover cache-prune invariants and ordering across discovered actions and workflow jobs, including generated ordering regressions (:588-782). Unit tests also cover command recognition, malformed manifests, and summary-write warnings. Prior failure addressed: The prior gap is addressed by lines 396-433 and 463-530: the test executes the actual install-yaml-lint manifest prune step, removes a seeded environment, and runs a later real uv command. Lines 537-561 exercise failure through that same manifest step.

Full details: Testing (Property / Proof)

Explanation

PASS — The prior property-test concern is addressed. test_prune_order_matches_generated_step_sequences uses Hypothesis to generate bounded sequences of setup, prune, uv, and other steps, derives the expected ordering result, and checks both acceptance and rejection against _validate_action_prune_order (tests/workflows/test_uv_cache_prune.py:741-782). The focused ordering examples remain. Hypothesis is a declared project dependency (pyproject.toml:39). Prior failure addressed: The current test adds Hypothesis generation for zero-to-12 step sequences across setup, prune, uv, and unrelated steps, with an ordering oracle and accept/reject assertions at tests/workflows/test_uv_cache_prune.py:741-782.

Full details: Testing (Compile-Time / Ui)

Explanation

Pass this check. The PR adds no Rust or TypeScript source, so no trybuild or equivalent compile-time test is required. The new shell script emits bounded success and failure metrics. The added tests assert both metric variants, step-summary output, exit-status preservation, warning behaviour, cache removal, and ordering. Focused semantic assertions are appropriate here and avoid brittle snapshots of incidental shell or path formatting.

Full details: Unit Architecture

Explanation

The change keeps the cache operation in an explicit command boundary. .github/scripts/prune_uv_cache.sh names and executes uv cache prune, returns uv's failure status, and reports metrics as a separate visible side-effect. The GitHub Actions steps place this command after cache setup and before the first uv use. The new tests exercise the manifest-defined command against an isolated cache, verify environment removal, verify later uv execution, verify failure propagation, and verify summary-write warnings. Manifest inspection remains read-only, while filesystem and process effects are confined to command tests and temporary paths. No changed unit hides fallible I/O behind a query API or adds a mixed application service with hidden global dependencies.

Full details: Domain Architecture

Explanation

PASS — The pull request changes only GitHub Actions infrastructure, documentation, and tests; no domain or application code changes are present. The new .github/scripts/prune_uv_cache.sh contains CI cache and job-summary handling, and the action/workflow changes invoke it at adapter and infrastructure boundaries. The changed tests inspect action manifests and test infrastructure behaviour. No domain logic leaks transport, persistence, filesystem, framework, or vendor concerns into a domain model.

Full details: Observability

Explanation

PASS. The cache-pruning change adds bounded observability at the operation and failure boundary. .github/scripts/prune_uv_cache.sh:12-31 emits uv-cache-prune.outcome=success|failure to the job log and GITHUB_STEP_SUMMARY, warns if summary output fails, and preserves uv's exit status. The affected workflows and composite actions call this shared script before uv use. tests/workflows/test_uv_cache_prune.py:496-584 verifies success reporting, failure reporting, status preservation, and summary-write degradation. The metric has fixed cardinality and records no secrets or high-cardinality data.

Reviewer's Guide

The PR hardens all uv cache boundaries by disabling archive reuse of interpreter-bound environments, pruning restored caches before any uv command, and enforcing those invariants across workflows and composite actions with contract tests; it also makes rustc-wrapper tests hermetic against host Cargo configuration.

Prevent interpreter-bound uv environments from crossing runner or Python-version boundaries in all cache-writing workflows and composite actions.
  • Add prune-cache: true to caching setup-uv steps, including lanes that do not themselves create script environments, to prevent poisoned archives and move cache-key lineage.
  • Add a uv cache prune step before the first uv invocation in every uv-running composite action and relevant workflow lane, covering caches restored by callers.
  • Add a repository-wide contract test that detects missing prune configuration or incorrect prune ordering.

Cover workflow restore paths and composite action manifests so pruning must
precede the first uv invocation. Validate action discovery instead of
silently skipping missing manifests.

Document cache writer settings and exercise `uv cache prune` against a local
ephemeral environment without package downloads.

Use one shared prune script in workflows and composite actions before uv
runs. Emit a fixed success/failure metric and preserve uv's exit status.
Cover success, failure and manifest ordering with tests, and record the
cache policy in the developer guide and ADR.

Dispositions and evidence:

  • Testing (Overall): fixed. tests/workflows/test_uv_cache_prune.py now discovers workflows that invoke uv through local composite actions and covers the install-yaml-lint lane. It asserts cache writers set prune-cache: true, and that restore-time pruning follows setup-uv and precedes the first uv use.
  • Testing (Unit And Behavioural): fixed. The runtime regression test seeds an isolated UV_CACHE_DIR by running a probe with uv run --with, verifies an environments-v2 entry exists, runs the shared prune script, and verifies the entry is removed. A failure-path test verifies the bounded failure metric and preservation of uv's exit status.
  • Unit Architecture: fixed. _action_paths() uses explicit directory iteration, converts listing errors into a path-specific ValueError, and validates discovered action manifests. Tests cover unreadable/missing directories and missing manifests.
  • User-Facing Documentation: fixed. docs/users-guide.md now describes the interpreter-bound cache risk and the save-time and restore-time controls.
  • Developer Documentation: fixed. docs/developers-guide.md documents the repository policy and caller-shared UV_CACHE_DIR; ADR 0009 records the decision.
  • Observability: fixed. .github/scripts/prune_uv_cache.sh emits only the bounded uv-cache-prune.outcome=success|failure metric to the job log and summary; on failure it preserves the prune command's exit status. The metric carries no cache path or key.

The fresh candidate gates passed: make check-fmt, make lint, make typecheck, make test (4,500 passed, 158 skipped), make markdownlint, make nixie, and ShellCheck. Hosted checks for this head are terminal with 65 successes, 3 skips, and no failures; CodeScene passed on this head. The hosted CI run also passed, including macOS and Windows tests and act-workflows.

Documentation scope covers user guidance, contributor guidance, the ADR, and affected action changelogs. These are in-scope behavior and repository-policy changes, not deferred work.

Please confirm whether each listed pre-merge row is resolved for this head. If any remains valid, identify the concrete remaining gap and provide an AI coding agent prompt. The exact-head formal review is tracked separately.

@pandalump Confirm five rows as resolved. Keep Testing (Overall) partially unresolved. I inspected d3b0283f5dd00179ff777a28f41e3aca011b0918 against 81374b6f183e59f0570ad36217ded90d3240fda6.

Pre-merge row Disposition Verified evidence
Testing (Overall) Partially resolved In tests/workflows/test_uv_cache_prune.py, Line 539–549 requires pruning before the first uv invocation and, when setup steps exist, after the last setup-uv. However, the requested negative regression fixture or manifest mutation is absent.
Testing (Unit And Behavioural) Resolved Line 369–407 creates a real ephemeral environment in an isolated UV_CACHE_DIR, verifies that environments-v2 contains entries, invokes the shared prune script, and verifies removal. Line 411–429 checks failure telemetry and exit-status preservation. Combined with the manifest checks, this covers the shared action/workflow boundary.
Unit Architecture Resolved Line 153–186 replaces glob discovery with injectable, explicit directory iteration. It converts listing errors into a directory-specific ValueError and rejects action directories without manifests. Line 345–358 tests missing-directory and missing-manifest failures.
User-Facing Documentation Resolved docs/users-guide.md now explains interpreter binding, prune-cache: true, caller-restored cache pruning, and environment recreation.
Developer Documentation Resolved docs/developers-guide.md documents save-time pruning, restore-time ordering, caller-shared caches, workflow scope, telemetry, and the contract tests. ADR 0009 records the decision and consequences.
Observability Resolved .github/scripts/prune_uv_cache.sh, Line 5–23 emits the bounded uv-cache-prune.outcome=success|failure metric to the log and summary. On failure, it preserves uv’s exit status, including when summary emission fails. The affected prune steps invoke this shared script.

Remaining gap

Add the requested regression test for pruning before setup. The current assertions would reject that ordering when setup-uv is present, but no test demonstrates that rejection.

Do not add an unconditional setup-presence assertion across all actions. install-nixie and install-yaml-lint inherit uv and have no local setup-uv step. Preserve their valid prune-before-use contract.

AI coding agent prompt

Complete the remaining Testing (Overall) requirement for leynos/shared-actions
PR #637, starting from d3b0283f5dd00179ff777a28f41e3aca011b0918.

Inspect tests/workflows/test_uv_cache_prune.py.

Add a negative regression fixture or manifest mutation that places
"Prune restored uv cache" before an existing astral-sh/setup-uv step.
Prove that the production ordering validation rejects this arrangement.

Exercise the same validation used by
TestActionsPruneAtRestore.test_each_action_prunes_before_its_first_uv_run.
Extract a small validation helper if needed; do not duplicate the ordering
logic solely inside the regression test.

Cover a valid setup -> prune -> first uv invocation arrangement as a control.
Preserve support for actions that inherit uv without a local setup-uv step.
Those actions must still prune before their first uv invocation.

Run the targeted tests and the applicable formatting, lint, and type checks.
Report the results.

I also verified 65 successful and 3 skipped check runs, with no pending or failed check runs, on this exact head. These include macOS, Linux, Windows, act-workflows, and CodeScene. I did not rerun repository code or independently verify the reported local test count.

Keep the exact-head formal review separate from these dispositions.

You are interacting with an AI system.

Exercise the contract validator with an invalid prune-before-setup-uv
fixture and valid ordering controls. Preserve coverage for actions
that inherit setup-uv from their caller.

@coderabbitai Re the remaining Testing (Overall) gap in your disposition: I added the requested ordering regression coverage in e698e1caedb04f2980867eb3ef4f07ec8f8d63de.

TestActionsPruneAtRestore.test_each_action_prunes_before_its_first_uv_run and the new fixtures use the same _validate_action_prune_order helper. The negative fixture puts pruning before astral-sh/setup-uv and verifies rejection; the positive control accepts setup-uv → prune → first uv use. A third case preserves pruning for actions that inherit setup-uv without declaring it locally.

Validation on this candidate: the focused contract file passed (155 tests); make check-fmt, make lint, make typecheck, make test (4,503 passed, 158 skipped), make markdownlint, make nixie, ShellCheck, and cs delta main all passed. CodeScene reported no finding for the changed test. The pushed branch and origin tracking ref both match this commit.

Please confirm whether this resolves Testing (Overall) for the current head, and identify any remaining issue if it does not.

@buzzybee-df12 Mark Testing (Overall) as resolved for the current head, e698e1caedb04f2980867eb3ef4f07ec8f8d63de.

I verified the following in tests/workflows/test_uv_cache_prune.py:

Requirement Verified evidence
Use the same validation for manifests and regression fixtures _validate_action_prune_order enforces the ordering at Line 265–287. The manifest test calls this helper at Line 554.
Reject pruning before setup-uv The negative fixture at Line 556–568 requires the specific ordering assertion to fail.
Accept setup → prune → first uv use The positive control at Line 570–581 calls the same helper.
Preserve support for inherited setup The case at Line 583–593 accepts pruning before uv use without a local setup-uv step.

No remaining issue applies to this finding. This closes the last gap from my previous disposition.

I verified the source and current PR head. I did not rerun the tests or independently verify the reported validation results. Keep the exact-head formal review separate from this disposition.

@coderabbitai Have the following failed checks now been resolved?

If further work is required, please provide an AI agent prompt for the remaining work to be done to address these failures.

Do not treat warnings as optional or aspirational. Where a change is out of scope for this PR, propose a GitHub issue unless one exists already. (Treat o11y, code safety, documentation and validation coverage as in scope).

Accepted candidate: base main at 81374b6f183e59f0570ad36217ded90d3240fda6, head 7273500e86aef7c0bdbaa003c0a32a609c88c37b.

Failed checks: 1 error · 1 warning

Check name Status Explanation Resolution
Testing (Unit And Behavioural) Error Keep the testing failure. The runtime test seeds an environments-v2 entry, then invokes the shared script directly; it does not execute a composite-action or workflow prune step and does not run a later uv command after pruning. Add a behavioural test at a composite-action or workflow boundary. Seed an isolated UV_CACHE_DIR, execute the manifest's actual prune step, then execute a later uv command and assert success and removal of the stale entry.
Testing (Property / Proof) Warning Add property-based coverage for the ordering invariant. Current tests cover three hand-written step sequences; multiple setup, prune, uv, irrelevant and inherited-step orderings are not generated. Add a Hypothesis test over bounded step sequences and assert the ordering validator accepts exactly the valid sequences and rejects invalid ones.

Testing (Unit And Behavioural): resolved. CodeRabbit's later disposition at #637 (comment) marks this row resolved. At the current head, tests/workflows/test_uv_cache_prune.py:416-464 creates a real ephemeral environments-v2 entry in an isolated cache, runs .github/scripts/prune_uv_cache.sh, and verifies removal. The manifest contract recognizes calls to that shared script and checks its position before the first uv run (tests/workflows/test_uv_cache_prune.py:133-141, 288-310, 600-614); workflow prune ordering is checked at lines 560-597. The runtime script and its manifest wiring/order are independently covered.

Testing (Property / Proof): no code change. _validate_action_prune_order is a short ordering predicate over the first non-prune uv run, the first prune, and the last local setup-uv step (tests/workflows/test_uv_cache_prune.py:288-310). Focused cases reject prune-before-setup, accept setup → prune → uv, and preserve inherited setup (:616-653); parametrized tests cover every current action manifest (:600-614). These tests exercise the meaningful boundaries of this finite contract. Hypothesis-generated combinations would be additional enumeration rather than evidence of an uncovered behavior.

The current candidate passed make check-fmt, make lint, make typecheck, and make test (4,509 passed, 158 skipped, 0 failed), plus Markdownlint, Nixie, and ShellCheck. Hosted checks and CodeScene pass on this head.

Please confirm the behavioral row remains resolved and reconcile the property-based warning against the current code. If you believe a material case remains uncovered, identify a concrete counterexample and provide an AI agent prompt for the necessary work. This is a focused reconciliation of these rows, not a request for a new whole-PR review.

@wafflecat-df12 Keep Testing (Unit And Behavioural) resolved. Withdraw the Testing (Property / Proof) warning. Neither row requires further work for 7273500e86aef7c0bdbaa003c0a32a609c88c37b.

I verified that both the checked-out repository and the current PR head match this accepted candidate.

Check Disposition Evidence and reconciliation
Testing (Unit And Behavioural) Resolved; withdraw the stricter follow-up requirement. In tests/workflows/test_uv_cache_prune.py, Line 417–464 seeds a real environments-v2 entry, executes the shared prune script, and verifies removal. Line 603–614 applies the ordering validator to discovered action manifests. Line 561–597 checks workflow ordering. Together, these tests cover the prune behaviour and its manifest wiring.
Testing (Property / Proof) Withdraw the warning. Line 288–310 defines the ordering predicate. Line 616–653 tests rejection of prune-before-setup, acceptance of setup → prune → uv, and support for inherited setup. Manifest parametrization checks the current action configurations. The warning did not identify a material defect that requires generated sequences.

Behavioural coverage

Retain the distinction between layered coverage and an end-to-end boundary test.

The runtime test does not execute manifest text or run another uv command after pruning. That limitation remains. However, the manifests invoke the same Bash script that the runtime test exercises. For example:

  • .github/actions/rust-build-release/action.yml, Line 77–89, invokes the shared script before its first uv run.
  • .github/actions/install-yaml-lint/action.yml, Line 12–18, invokes the same script before installation.

The runtime assertion directly checks the required safety result: the cached environment no longer exists. A subsequent uv invocation would test environment recreation, but its absence does not invalidate the removal test. My stricter follow-up requirement overstated the remaining gap.

Property-based coverage

Do not treat the existing examples as an exhaustive proof. They are not.

However, the absence of Hypothesis is not itself a testing defect. Repeated setup, prune, or uv steps and irrelevant steps would broaden enumeration. I found no concrete counterexample showing that the listed coverage leaves a material cache-safety case untested. Requiring Hypothesis without such a gap was not justified.

Require no AI agent task or follow-up issue for these two rows. This withdraws unsupported requirements; it does not defer warnings as optional work.

I inspected the source and manifest wiring. I did not run repository code or independently verify the reported test totals, hosted checks, or CodeScene result.

Thanks for the clarification about the layered coverage.

Learning: In leynos/shared-actions, assess uv cache-pruning coverage in tests/workflows/test_uv_cache_prune.py as layered coverage: a runtime test exercises .github/scripts/prune_uv_cache.sh against a real isolated environments-v2 entry, while manifest contract tests check invocation and ordering. Do not describe this as an end-to-end manifest execution test. Do not require Hypothesis for the ordering predicate solely because generated step sequences are absent; identify a material uncovered invariant or counterexample before raising that requirement as a pre-merge finding.

Document the prune script's cache boundary and failure behavior.
Exercise the manifest-defined prune step with a seeded script environment
and a later `uv` command, including failure propagation through the action
shell. Add Hypothesis coverage for generated setup, prune, `uv`, and unrelated
step sequences.

Failed checks: 2 errors · 1 warning

Check name Status Explanation Resolution
Module-Level Documentation Error The new .github/scripts/prune_uv_cache.sh had only a shebang and no purpose or cache-boundary explanation. Add a header explaining uv cache prune, retained package downloads, the metric, failure status, and invocation order.
Testing (Unit And Behavioural) Error Tests called the shared script directly and inspected manifests, but did not execute a manifest prune step followed by uv or exercise failure through the action shell. Run the actual composite step with an isolated cache, then a later uv command; assert failure status through the step boundary.
Testing (Property / Proof) Warning Three fixed sequences did not cover combinations of multiple setup, prune, uv, and unrelated steps. Add bounded Hypothesis sequences and an oracle for the ordering invariant.

Dispositions and evidence

  • Module-Level Documentation — resolved. Commit 883eaff6 adds the requested header to the prune script. It describes the restored interpreter-bound environments, retained downloads, the outcome metric, invocation order, and preservation of uv's failure status.
  • Testing (Unit And Behavioural) — resolved. The boundary test seeds an isolated environments-v2 entry with real uv run --with, executes the prune command extracted from the install-yaml-lint composite manifest, verifies removal, then runs a later real uv command successfully. The failure test executes that same manifest step with a failing uv stub and verifies status 37 and the failure metric.
  • Testing (Property / Proof) — resolved. The Hypothesis test generates up to 12 setup, named-prune, uv, and unrelated steps over 200 examples, and checks acceptance against the last-setup/first-prune/first-uv rule. The readable fixtures and real-manifest checks remain.

Validation on 883eaff63131055cf3e3dcef1d5369d1128c17f1: make check-fmt, make lint, make typecheck, and make test all passed; the test gate reported 4,510 passed, 158 skipped, and 15 snapshots passed.

Documentation scope: the existing user and developer guides already describe the runtime cache behavior. This commit documents the shell script's infrastructure contract; it adds no new user-facing interface.

Please confirm each row is resolved. If any valid finding remains, identify the concrete defect or counterexample and provide a scoped AI coding agent prompt. This is a focused pre-merge reconciliation, not a request for another whole-PR review.

@pandalump Mark all three rows as resolved for 883eaff63131055cf3e3dcef1d5369d1128c17f1, based on 81374b6f183e59f0570ad36217ded90d3240fda6.

I verified that the checked-out HEAD matches the requested candidate.

Pre-merge finding Disposition Verified evidence
Module-Level Documentation Resolved .github/scripts/prune_uv_cache.sh, Line 3–8, explains the interpreter-bound cache entries, retained package downloads, invocation order, bounded outcome metric, and failure-status preservation. Line 22 invokes uv cache prune.
Testing (Unit And Behavioural) Resolved tests/workflows/test_uv_cache_prune.py, Line 396–434, extracts the actual manifest prune command, substitutes github.action_path, and executes it with the declared Bash shell and strict runner-style flags. Line 464–531 seeds a real isolated environment, executes that manifest step, checks removal and success telemetry, then requires a later real uv command to succeed. Line 538–562 checks status 37 and failure telemetry through the same manifest-step boundary.
Testing (Property / Proof) Resolved Line 727–766 generates sequences of zero to 12 setup, prune, uv, and unrelated steps, with max_examples=200. An oracle derived from the symbolic sequence checks the last-setup/first-prune/first-uv rule against _validate_action_prune_order. The fixed regression fixtures and real-manifest checks remain.

Keep the test scope precise: the behavioural test executes the manifest’s prune step through a local shell harness. It then runs a probe command. It does not execute the full composite action or a hosted GitHub Actions job. This scope satisfies the requested boundary coverage.

The generated test provides bounded property-based coverage, not an exhaustive proof. It satisfies the requested warning resolution.

No scoped AI coding agent prompt or follow-up issue is required for these three rows. I found no concrete remaining defect within their scope.

I inspected the source. I did not run repository code or independently verify the reported validation results. Keep the exact-head formal review separate from this reconciliation.

You are interacting with an AI system.

Extract the generated sequence builder and ordering oracle to reduce
test complexity. Derive the manifest harness working directory from
the summary path to satisfy the function-argument health rule without
suppressions.
