When the chosen summary model has no room after a meeting, notes no longer wait for apps to be closed.

  • Interim notes. qwen3:8b writes them at once if only it fits. Marked interim: true in frontmatter; the note says so and names the model.
  • Rewritten when idle. After 5 minutes with no input, nothing busy, and the chosen model fitting on the graphics card (no spill), it rewrites interim notes itself. If the room goes part-way it gives up quietly and the interim notes stay. Notes edited outside TRACE are skipped.
  • Write them now. On an interim note; if the model has no room, a confirmation shows what it needs, what is free and which apps hold the rest before anything loads.
  • Waiting for memory names the apps holding the most graphics memory and RAM (per-process PDH counters + sysinfo), Windows' own processes left out.

Smaller stand-ins were tried on two real 40-minute meetings and left out: qwen3:4b, granite4.2:3b and gemma3:4b wrote empty or unusable notes. examples/model_compare.rs repeats the test for a new model; memory_check now also prints the decision and the apps.

Gallery: note-interim, note-interim-no-room, note-upgrading (new), note-waiting-memory (changed).

Not yet exercised end to end in the installed app: a meeting ending with no room, then the idle rewrite.

When the chosen summary model has no room after a meeting, qwen3:8b writes
interim notes at once instead of waiting for apps to be closed. They are
marked in the note's frontmatter and rewritten with the chosen model once
nobody has touched the machine for five minutes and it fits on the
graphics card; a rewrite gives way quietly if the room goes. "Write them
now" asks first when the model has no room, showing what it needs and
which apps hold the memory.

Waiting for memory now names the apps holding the most graphics memory
and RAM. Smaller models (qwen3:4b, granite4.2:3b, gemma3:4b) were tried on
two real meetings and left out; examples/model_compare.rs repeats the test.

A bare CI runner has nothing holding half a gigabyte, so the list is
rightly empty there. Checks what holds anywhere instead: no app named
twice, none below the floor, and never Windows itself.
