NFC developer documentation: reader ICs, antenna layout, and NFC Polaroid protocol #221

Description

@qianen6

Hi Pollen team,

I'm evaluating how to retain Microduck's head/beak NFC interactions and NFC Polaroid compatibility in a DIY integration, without assuming that the two antennas imply two PN532 modules.

The official specifications list two NFC antennas, and the Accessory Pack describes custom tag triggers and a 1.54-inch NFC-powered colour E-Ink display.

Could you please confirm, or point to public documentation for:

  1. Reader hardware and host interface: Which NFC reader IC(s) are used? Are the head and beak handled by two readers or by one reader with antenna switching? What host interface is used?
  2. Antenna integration: Are antenna outline dimensions (including thickness), feed/connector details, mounting/metal-clearance requirements, or mechanical drawings available for the head and beak?
  3. NFC Polaroid compatibility: Which RF standard/tag type and image-transfer/update protocol does it use? Are the command format, image encoding, refresh sequence, and RF power/coupling requirements documented? Is any third-party reader confirmed compatible?
  4. Software availability: Is there a public NFC driver, SDK interface, tag-format specification, or example for tag-triggered behaviours and the Polaroid? If not yet, is there a planned documentation release?

I checked this repository, the public RPI Robot HAT C1 files, and the community replica BOM, but did not find enough information to choose the reader/antenna hardware confidently. I understand that complete hardware design files may not be public; supported interfaces/protocols or links to developer guidance would already be very helpful. Please distinguish final specifications from provisional ones where applicable.

Thank you!
