What is not built, what is not yet seen on real hardware, and what would come next. Nothing here is promised; it is the honest edge of the project.
| Feature | Why not |
|---|---|
| The week drawn as a timeline inside Alexa+ | The Alexa+ add-on surface is partner-only. |
| "While you were out", on request | Lower priority. |
| Quiet hours | Lower priority. |
| Visits for the agency | A carer's visits, confirmed by the resident, as a record an agency could rely on. The mechanism exists; the product around it does not. |
Wick has never run in a real home. Before it does:
- Explain in person what it captures and shares, and get written consent.
- Agree what is off limits, and make withdrawal unconditional. The software already deletes everything when she presses Stop Wick.
- Test on a real Fire TV and a real Ring doorbell. Legibility at three metres, a real panel's contrast, sound, and a spoken "Alexa, pause" have not been checked.
- Set a retention period for the timeline. Door pictures and readings last a day; the rest has no limit set yet.
| Alexa+ add-on | The add-on manifest is complete and checked, and cannot be uploaded until Amazon opens the toolkit beyond select partners (FL-001). |
| Reaching an app from a server | Amazon Device Messaging is the documented way to reach a Fire TV app from a server on both Fire OS and Vega. Wick does not use it yet (FL-049). |
| Text size on Vega | Vega says whether high contrast is on, but nothing an app can use about text size (FL-038). |
| Lambda concurrency | The AWS account's quota is 10, so the Ring webhook reservation cannot be set until it is raised. |
| Ring in a real home | Linking a real Ring account needs a device and a Protection plan; the Developer Playground sends no webhooks (FL-027). |
| Idea | Why not, or what replaced it |
|---|---|
| A model in the Guardian | Rules only, by design. A model is what is being guarded against. |
| Face matching for visitors | Rejected. Visitors are matched by schedule only. |
| Replies written by a model | Replies are chosen from sentences Wick wrote. |
| Voice notes from the family | Transcribe is used only for spoken questions. |
| Amazon Timestream for the rhythm | DynamoDB counts were enough. |
| Bedrock Knowledge Bases | No free-text facts are stored to recall; fixed tools answer. |
| An indoor camera, fall detection, a wellness score, a chatbot on the television | Never. See The Idea. |
- MCP latency on new connections. App Runner closes idle connections, and each reconnection is the whole of a slow call (issue 47).
- More languages. The phrasebook is hand-written whole sentences, held to the builders' real output by tests; adding a language means writing and reviewing its sentences.
- More of the Guardian's lexicon outside English. Today other scripts are not cleared except for the household's own people's names.
