Grow past one scrolling page: a component kit and ready made sites #409
ScrollCraft does one thing well: a single scrolling page you can download as plain HTML. The visitors we get are asking for more. In the last 30 days, 399 people visited, 87 went straight to /templates and 55 to /create, and after GitHub the biggest referrers are search and ChatGPT.
I went through what the big players ship before planning this. Three things came out of it.
Where the demand is, from Webflow's own category counts: Portfolio and Agency 7255, Technology 6129, Professional Services 2679, then the local trades cluster, Food and Drink 672, Medical 516, Real Estate 515. Portfolio is nearly three times the next vertical. ThemeForest carries over 1800 portfolio templates and its bestseller has sold 11.2k copies.
Why bought templates get called cheap, from buyer complaints: unreplaced stock photography, copy left generic so it fits any trade and suits none, and a one page site with nothing behind the cards. Our 22 templates already write specific copy, so that part is a lead we should press rather than lose.
What the market just gave up: tailwindcss.com/plus now redirects to a login page and stopped taking new customers in September, and originui.com 301s to coss.com/ui after being absorbed into Cal.com. Two of the most cited paid incumbents are no longer taking buyers.
So the plan, in order:
Make the gallery we already have work like a real listing. Two filter axes, counts, device preview, pages included. 87 visitors a month are already landing there.
Multi page export, because every good template has detail pages behind the cards and ours cannot produce one.
A component kit at /ui. Plain HTML and CSS that pastes anywhere. Every library in that research ships React, and the ones that serve everyone else ship markup with no behaviour.
Then the packs, portfolio first, three sites each.
Deliberately small. Six components, three sites a pack, each landing on its own and reviewed against #418 first. The catalogue is worth something because 22 templates all hold a standard.
