Summary

Foundation layer for the premium interaction-polish pass (#280). No business logic touched — pure presentation/interaction primitives.

  • globals.css — shared --duration-press (100ms) / --duration-fast (150ms) / --duration-ui (200ms) / --ease-ui tokens; reduced-motion guard now caps every CSS transition to ~instant and disables smooth scrolling (keyframe loading indicators stay functional)
  • Button — cursor-pointer, select-none, active:scale-[0.98] press at press-speed, and a width-stable loading prop (spinner overlay, aria-busy, non-reentrant, accessible name "Loading…")
  • Spinner / Skeleton — new primitives; skeleton pulse is motion-safe: only
  • Form controls — transitions + subtle hover border on Input/Textarea/Select trigger; aria-invalid styling; select chevron flips on open; checkbox/radio get cursor + tiny check entrance
  • Card — opt-in interactive prop (2px lift + border emphasis); Badge — removed hover styles from read-only status chips (false affordance)
  • Close buttons (dialog, toast) and Klaro consent buttons get cursor-pointer

Test plan

  • npm run type-check — clean
  • npm run lint — clean (5 pre-existing warnings)
  • npm test — 1203 tests pass (one local worker OOM on tests/db/retention.test.ts; passes in isolation)
  • npm run build — clean
  • New tests/ui-interactions.test.tsx — 9 tests covering the Button loading contract, press affordances, Spinner/Skeleton semantics, Checkbox toggling

The "resumes normal behaviour" test does not verify resumption.

The test clicks while loading={false}, then rerenders with loading and checks only aria-busy. It never rerenders back to loading={false} to confirm the button is interactive again. Add a rerender with loading={false}, click again, and expect onClick to be called twice.

Standalone Spinner is silent to assistive technology.

…tion tokens (#280)

Foundation layer for the interaction-polish pass:

- globals.css: shared --duration-press/fast/ui + --ease-ui tokens so
component code never scatters magic durations; the reduced-motion
guard now also caps every CSS transition (~instant state changes)
and disables smooth scrolling, while keyframe indicators (spinners)
  stay functional
- Button: cursor-pointer (v4 preflight defaults to cursor:default),
  select-none, restrained active:scale-[0.98] press feedback, and a
  width-stable `loading` prop — spinner overlay + aria-busy, label
keeps its layout box, accessible name becomes "Loading…", and the
  control can't double-fire
- Spinner + Skeleton primitives (skeleton pulse is motion-safe only)
- Input/Textarea/Select trigger: transitions, subtle hover border,
aria-invalid styling; select chevron flips while open
- Checkbox/Radio: cursor, color transition, tiny check zoom-in
- Card: opt-in `interactive` treatment (2px lift + border emphasis)
- Badge: remove hover styles — status chips are read-only, not controls
- Dialog/Toast close buttons + Klaro buttons: cursor-pointer
- Tests covering the Button loading contract, press affordances,
  Spinner/Skeleton semantics, and Checkbox toggling

Width-stable loading keeps the hidden label's layout box, but some
consequential actions read better with the in-flight verb visible
("Deleting…", "Logging out…"). loadingText swaps the label for
spinner + text; callers choose it deliberately.

Generated with [Devin](https://devin.ai)

Co-Authored-By: Devin <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com>
- asChild + loading no longer wraps Slot's child in a fragment —
the slotted element stays Slot's direct child so cloned classes
and aria attributes still reach it
- props spread moves before the disabled/aria guards so callers
  can't weaken the loading contract
- Select trigger chevron rotates via group data-state instead of a
descendant svg selector, so child icons aren't flipped too
- Spinner gains an optional label (role="status" + sr-only) for
  standalone use
- transition-all narrowed to explicit property lists on Button and
  the dialog close button
- the loading-resumption test now verifies clicks work again after
  loading clears

Co-Authored-By: Devin <158243242+devin-ai-integration[bot]@users.noreply.github.com>
CodeRabbit finding on #282: for `asChild` buttons, aria-disabled +
pointer-events-none left a focused <a> keyboard-activatable — Enter
fires the href via keydown's default action, and a slotted <button>
can still fire click on Space keyup. Add event-level guards while
inert (click + Enter/Space), drop the control from the tab order, and
leave all other keys — Tab included — untouched so focus never traps.
Regression coverage for loading and disabled slotted anchors plus the
interactive case.

Follow-up CodeRabbit finding on #282: Radix Slot invokes the child's
own handlers before Button's guards, so a slotted element's onClick
or onKeyDown could still run while loading/disabled. While inert the
child is cloned with activation handlers replaced — non-activation
keys still fall through to the child's own handler. Covered by a
regression test for child-owned click/Enter/Space handlers.

Block auxiliary activation on inert slotted anchors.

When a caller renders an asChild anchor with disabled and without loading, middle-click can still open its href in a new tab. Add an onAuxClick guard to the cloned child and Comp while inert.

Update the Button component’s inert handling to block auxiliary activation for
disabled slotted anchors: accept and forward `onAuxClick`, add it to the cloned
child’s event props, and use `guardClick` whenever the control is inert, both
for the cloned child and `Comp`.

105-125: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick win

Exercise the child-owned Space handlers.

The fixture fires Enter keydown and Space keyup, but it has no child onKeyUp handler and never fires Space keydown. A regression that calls the child’s handler for either Space event would still pass. Add a child onKeyUp spy, fire Space keydown, and assert neither child handler runs. The existing loading-anchor test checks Space’s default prevention, not child-owned handlers. A disabled fixture is unnecessary because loading and disabled use the same inert branch.

Update the “an inert slotted child's own activation handlers are suppressed”
test to cover both Space key events: add a child-owned onKeyUp spy, fire Space
keydown as well as keyup, and assert neither onKeyDown nor onKeyUp runs for
activation keys while the Button is loading. Preserve the existing
non-activation ArrowDown assertion.

Rebased onto current main: the primitives from #282 (loading buttons,
Skeleton, motion tokens) are now on main, so this is only the polish
delta. Applied semantically over the newer portal work — #296's
confirmation/registration card split and #298's portal-native
registration request keep their exact behavior and copy; the request
submit gains the same busy-spinner wiring as confirm/report/missing,
and the staff one-click Register for portal requests shows its
pending state.

- Admin: AdminLoading skeletons replace bare "Loading..." text;
per-row pending spinners keyed by mutation pendingKey (status,
  receipt, link, register, portal-register, retention holds);
sidebar links get press feedback; logout uses loadingText.
- Portal: busyAction tracks the pressed action so the spinner lands
  on the right button; inline report/missing forms animate in;
  withdraw/save-profile buttons show pending.

No business logic touched: registration semantics, request dedup,
confirmation, payments, ownership, review transitions unchanged.

Rebased onto current main: the #282 primitives (loading buttons,
Skeleton, motion tokens) are already on main, so this is only the
public-site delta — navigation-free surfaces:

- Login: per-path pending state so the pressed sign-in button shows
its own progress while both stay mutually disabled; forgot-password
gets a real pending state; mount placeholder uses Skeleton.
- Registration + sighting forms: submit buttons use loading/
loadingText instead of ad-hoc text swapping.
- FAQ: Spinner primitive, chevron rotates rather than icon-swapping,
  accordion buttons get hover/active/focus-visible feedback.
- Contact/homepage: press feedback + focus rings on real links;
static contact card drops its misleading hover shadow.
- Adoptions/vet-services/consent: consistent fast transitions.

No static content made pseudo-interactive; no business logic touched.
