Honesty fixes from the old release-line PR, re-applied onto current main (v1.6.0+). Most of the original conflicted with the #102/#104/#116 placement work, so it was ported by hand; the base is now main.

Kept:

  • A project with several plates is never called ready or "fits the bed" when each plate fits alone: placement card, preflight bed check, Ready Now and the Doctor READY note say Studio cannot check where the plates sit.
  • No app or engine text recommends Arrange all plates as a fix (guard test; the held guide is not scanned).
  • Recommended mode says when the creator's supports are not kept; the Validation Center only says values are kept for Preserve.
  • Intelligence Report headline, next action and comparison lines name every check that was not verified (bed fit, object spacing) instead of "found no risks".

Left out on purpose: prime-tower detection, guide pages, release metadata, and the deferred regrid/tower experiments (#98/#110). Original head is kept in local ref hold/pr109-original-b1e79d7.

Verified: backend pytest 3737 passed, 49 skipped; desktop tsc clean, vitest 1192 passed; CI green on the head. Static review: Sol APPROVE, Opus APPROVE-WITH-NOTES (optional notes only).

Known follow-ups: treat a bed fit that raised (None) as not verified; pass the prepare mode to the live report endpoint; per-object support overrides are not considered by the supports note.

…answers

Each setting Studio changes in a U1 copy now carries a plain-language reason
and an evidence label: "Studio's check" (Studio did or checked it) or "Verify
in Snapmaker Orca" (advice to check; no claim about Orca behavior).

- convert/orca_import/rules: atomic {reason, explanation, source, kind} per
change; per-filament list repairs describe exactly what happened (fill,
resize, trim, text conversion); fixes a preserve-mode invariant failure on
  numeric filament lists.
- Guide: source references and checked-version line per page, a golden-answer
  manifest (answers.json) with test-owned fact ids/derives/tokens, and
committed mutation tests against the real checker.
- Print readiness row states the score is not a probability of print success.
- Cost Doctor says "estimated cost".

Verified: backend 2905 passed/49 skipped; desktop vitest 828 passed; tsc and
build clean; guide check 50/50; guide e2e 1462/1462; git diff --check clean.

…s in tests

Addresses two review findings on this PR.

- orca_import: the per-filament list repair now computes its fill, trim and
text-conversion flags only over the entries that survive truncation. Entries
dropped by a resize are reported once, as a resize. Written values are
  unchanged.
- Guide claim derives: the build no longer scans source text. It checks only
the shape of each derive reference (valid prefix, existing target file,
valid identifier). Real symbol resolution now lives in the tests: backend
and test references are imported and resolved with getattr (callable
required for tests), and the app reference is checked against the real
  module's exports. Near-miss, comment-only, docstring-only and
escaped-triple-quote cases are covered by negative tests.
- EVIDENCE.md/README.md: state that the build checks shape and file existence
only, and drop the duplicated evidence-kinds paragraph.

Verified: backend 2925 passed/49 skipped; vitest 829 passed; tsc, build,
guide check 50/50 and guide e2e 1462/1462 clean; git diff --check clean.
Edited directly by the implementation wrapper (gpt-5.6-luna session
01a11dca-f5f8-7493-aeb5-b0a2baee8819 was not dispatched for these rounds).
Reviewed on the final state (manifest-9): Opus and Sol approve.

- release-candidate.yml: the Windows upgrade smoke test now installs the
published v1.5.0 installer (sha256 verified against the live release) and
upgrades it with the release candidate, instead of v1.1.0.
- site/guide: version, checked-against versions and source links move to
v1.5.1; EVIDENCE.md states that screenshots were captured from the
installed v1.5.0 release and have not been recaptured. Guide rebuilt.

Version surfaces only (package.json and lockfile root fields, tauri.conf.json,

The release-governance tests that compare the manifests with

its job.

Docs and evidence only (README, CHANGELOG, docs/**), recorded against the
release candidate built from abf20bf (run 37947895421):

- Release notes, CHANGELOG, README (download block, what's new, counts) and

- TRUST_STATUS: v1.5.1 gates - installed-application acceptance 50/50 (clean

Documentation only. The release notes now say Studio does not start a print

…established

Multi-plate projects: the placement card, preflight bed check, Ready Now and the
Doctor's READY action no longer say every object is inside; they say Studio cannot
check where the plates sit and point to Arrange all plates. The plate count now
comes from the <plate> records in model_settings.config (slice-cache files only as
a fallback), same intent as #108.

Use Studio's U1 starter settings: when the creator turned supports on, the Prepare
summary says Orca will open with supports off (painted supports noted when present),
no longer calls the written settings "kept", and the Validation Center only says
values are kept for a Preserve copy. What the mode writes is unchanged.

Verified: backend pytest 2943 passed, 49 skipped; desktop tsc, vitest 859 passed,
build; site/guide check 50/50.

📝 Walkthrough

The changes report multi-plate placement as unverified, update placement guidance, and distinguish preparation outcomes for creator settings and supports. Backend reports and desktop views reflect these results, with tests covering the updated behavior and wording.

Changes: Placement and Preparation Reporting

Layer / File(s) Summary
Assess placement and bed fit
backend/snapstudio_core/plate_placement.py, backend/snapstudio_core/preflight.py, backend/tests/test_honest_claims.py, backend/tests/test_plate_placement.py, backend/tests/test_preflight.py
Multi-plate assessments report when Studio has not established plate positions. Preflight returns an unknown bed-fit result when it cannot verify those positions. Tests cover multi-plate and single-plate cases.
Report placement status in readiness and UI
backend/snapstudio_core/doctor.py, backend/tests/test_honest_claims.py, desktop/src/api.ts, desktop/src/lib/placement.ts, desktop/src/lib/placement.test.ts, desktop/src/lib/readiness.ts, desktop/src/components/PlacementCard.tsx, desktop/src/components/PlacementCard.test.tsx
Doctor and desktop placement results carry multi-plate uncertainty into user-facing actions and verdicts. The desktop placement view reports an unverified, non-fixable result when there are multiple plates and no reported off-plate objects.
Describe preparation settings and supports
backend/snapstudio_api/service.py, backend/snapstudio_core/convert.py, backend/snapstudio_core/validation_report.py, desktop/src/api.ts, desktop/src/components/PrepareSettingsSummary.tsx, desktop/src/components/PrepareSettingsSummary.test.tsx, backend/tests/test_honest_claims.py
Conversion summaries can disclose when creator supports will not be active, including when painted support areas remain. Readiness and desktop summaries distinguish preserved creator values from Recommended-mode starter settings.
Update placement guidance and unverified-check reports
backend/snapstudio_core/bed_fit.py, backend/snapstudio_core/community_knowledge.py, backend/snapstudio_core/compatibility.py, backend/snapstudio_core/intelligence_report.py, backend/snapstudio_core/layout.py, backend/snapstudio_core/scale_doctor.py, backend/tests/test_intelligence_report.py, backend/tests/test_no_arrange_remedy.py, desktop/src/components/FixPlan.tsx, desktop/src/routes/*, desktop/src/lib/scaleOptions.ts, desktop/src/test-fixtures/compat-blocked.json, CHANGELOG.md
Placement and spacing messages direct users to review projects in Snapmaker Orca instead of recommending Arrange. Intelligence reports name checks that were not verified. Tests scan application text for Arrange recommendations, and the changelog records the reporting changes.

…he printable area

Orca experiments showed Arrange all plates does not fix an Outside object or an
inherited prime tower on a project made for a larger bed, so no Studio text
recommends it for multi-plate projects any more; the text says what was observed
and to review the project in Snapmaker Orca.

New computed check (detection only, nothing is moved): the copy's own wipe tower
x/y and prime_tower_width against the U1 printable area. Reported in the Prepare
summary, the placement card, the Doctor READY action and as a preflight attention
check, so Ready Now never counts such a project as ready.

Verified: backend pytest 2949 passed, 49 skipped; desktop tsc, vitest 862 passed,
build; site/guide check 50/50.

…rime tower fine

Arrange is only evidenced failing (multi-plate Outside object, inherited tower) and
is untested elsewhere, so no Studio text, desktop string or guide page recommends
it now; the only mention is "Arrange all plates did not fix that in our test", and a
guard test fails on any other. Studio's own Move onto the plate is untouched.

Prime tower: the depth, brim and rotation come from slicing (Orca 2.4.0 Print.cpp
wipe_tower_data().depth), so Studio reports "outside" only when provable, skips a
rotated tower, and otherwise shows an informational "could not verify" note rather
than any claim that the tower is inside.

Verified: backend pytest 2953 passed, 49 skipped; desktop tsc, vitest 862 passed,
build; site/guide rebuilt, check 50/50.

…ross-check; consistent release notes

- Recommended no longer replaces a project's own wipe_tower_x/y with the starter constants
(profile.apply_swap leaves them), and declares them so Orca does not reset them on import.
Studio never moves a tower, in either mode.
- regrid cross-check now requires each item's whole footprint inside its recorded cell, not
just its centre; a straddling item leaves everything unmoved.
- prime_tower: a blank/none/nil enable flag no longer counts as "stated on".
- Doctor READY line with an outside tower no longer says "and slice"; verdict stays a
profile-compatibility verdict (setup readiness remains the printer check's job).
- api.ts: drop the unused prime_tower.outside.width.
- CHANGELOG: all #109/#110 entries in [Unreleased] (none appended to the dated [1.5.1]);
remove the "does not rearrange" / "does not keep supports" contradictions.

Tests: backend 3702 passed / 49 skipped; desktop tsc 0, vitest 79 files / 902 passed,
vite build 0; guide 50/50.

…tention stated as unverified; multi-plate READY line no longer says slice

- CHANGELOG: [1.5.1] keeps only what release/v1.5.1 shipped and carries no date until
the release is assembled; the 11 entries from the #108 merge and the #109/#110 entries
sit under [Unreleased]. Code for all of them is present in this candidate.
- ARCHITECTURE: declaring the project's tower coordinates is the file-level behaviour;
retention after Orca import is not verified.
- doctor: the multi-plate READY line says "review it before slicing" instead of
"and slice", matching the placement note it carries. Wording only; verdict unchanged.

Verified: backend pytest 3702 passed, 49 skipped; guide check 50/50. No engine change.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Do not claim that every object is on the plate when placement is unverified.

For a multi-plate project whose plates fit individually, assess() returns no off_plate items but sets placement_established to false. If a caller requests a placed copy, this branch replies, “every object is already on the plate.” Check placement_established before returning that reason. For unverified placement, return the assessment summary instead.

Make the success message depend on the preparation mode.

If the user prepares with Recommended settings, this line still says “creator settings kept where possible.” The mode-aware PrepareSettingsSummary below explains that Recommended can replace those settings, including enabled supports. Use prep.prepare_mode to give Recommended copies a starter-settings message. Reserve the “kept” claim for Preserve copies.

Carry partial multi-plate placement checks into the report.

For a clean multi-plate result, bed_fit.assess() returns overall_level: "ok" even though positions across plates are not checked. C.doctor_contributions() drops ok findings, so the Intelligence Report has no risk or not_verified entry for this limitation. Its Project Doctor summary can also say that the placement check found nothing off the plate.

Add an explicit partial-placement field and include it in not_verified. Update overall_text so it does not claim that the placement check was complete.

Update bed_fit.assess() to expose a placement_unverified field when multi-plate
positions are not checked, and ensure overall_text does not claim the placement
check found nothing off the plate in that case. Update C.doctor_contributions()
to include this limitation in not_verified while preserving existing behavior
for other findings.

Check the written support declaration in Preserve mode.

If the source has enable_support="1" but does not declare enable_support in different_settings_to_system, Preserve can leave the value undeclared. Snapmaker Orca then uses its supports-off preset, but this return suppresses the warning. Check the written declaration in both modes. If Preserve loses effective supports, give Preserve-specific guidance instead of suggesting Preserve again. The repair path retains source declarations and declares changed keys; it does not necessarily declare an unchanged enable_support value. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Update the support-warning check around `prepare_mode` and
`_is_on(before.get("enable_support"))` to validate whether the written settings
declare `enable_support` in both modes. If Preserve loses effective supports
because the key is undeclared, show Preserve-specific repair guidance rather
than recommending Preserve again.

Keep the unknown-mode message neutral.

If a user opens an unprepared 3MF with customized-preset markers, /report calls service.report(path) without a mode. This branch then says Studio’s starter settings replace its values, although Studio has not prepared the file. State that the report cannot determine whether the values will be kept or replaced. Update the unknown-mode message in the validation report branch to state that
the report cannot determine whether customized values will be kept or replaced;
do not claim Studio’s starter settings replace them when no preparation mode is
known.
