feat(fleet): one click to move a host-network Mysterium behind the fence - #670
After the upgrade, a Mysterium node from 2.0.6 or earlier keeps running on the host network until its owner redeploys it. That is on purpose: a worker upgrade must not stop a paying node. But the only signs of it were the drift line and a red Check isolation result. Nothing on the Fleet page told the owner what to do, or let them do it in one click.
Fix
The worker reports fence-gated containers still on the host network (unfenced in its isolation status). It still leaves them running as they are.
On the Fleet page, under its worker, the node shows as still sharing the host's network:
in on or operator mode, with a Redeploy MystNodes to move behind the fence button;
in legacy mode, with the order: switch isolation on first (the existing Turn on isolation button), then redeploy;
in off mode, with the setting to change (CASHPILOT_ISOLATION=auto and a restart), then redeploy;
on Podman, with the same text the deploy refusal gives.
The button does the same redeploy the dashboard does. It reads the running node's identity, replaces the container on the fenced bridge with the same data, and checks the new node's identity. If the identity differs, the node is held stopped and its volume is not touched.
UPGRADING says the node keeps running until you redeploy it, and that one redeploy moves it behind the fence.
A mismatch hold also lives in the worker's memory until the next deploy. The lab found that when the worker could not overwrite the pending record, the stopped node read as unchecked and the guard started it again every pass.
Tests
TestTheUpgrade and test_the_fleet_page_offers_the_move_and_says_isolation_first in tests/test_mysterium_fenced.py:
The old node is left running and is reported to the Fleet page, in on and in legacy mode. Control: a fenced node is not reported.
The redeploy reads the running old node's identity before it stops it, and brings the node's own data mount along.
A different identity after the move holds the node stopped, removes nothing, and stays held once stopped. Control: the same identity runs, and the record is cleared.
TestAHoldThatCannotBeWritten: with the record unwritable, the held node is not started again and Start refuses it. Control: a redeploy lifts the hold.
On main, the four reporting tests and the unwritable-hold test fail. On a copy with the identity read removed from the redeploy, the two identity tests fail. On a copy with the identity read removed from the redeploy, the two identity tests fail.
Lab
Docker 29 VM, with sockguard in front of the worker:
A v2.0.6 worker deployed Mysterium on the host network. This branch's worker took over in legacy mode (an earner on the default bridge) and in on mode. Over 90 s of guard passes the node kept the same container, start time and 0 restarts. The heartbeat carried unfenced: [{"service": "MystNodes", ...}]. In legacy, the redeploy got a 409 with "Switch isolation on in Fleet, then redeploy MystNodes." and the node was untouched.
In on, the redeploy read the running node's identity, moved it to cashpilot-isolated with restart policy no, and logged "kept its identity".
A pending record naming another identity, made unwritable, before the move: the new node was stopped once and never started again over 150 s, Start returned 503 with the reason, and the keystore stayed on the volume. The owner's redeploy brought it back with the same identity.
The Fleet render code, run against those heartbeats: the button in on, the order in legacy, the setting in off, the Podman text in unsupported, and nothing when no node is unfenced.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
The Fleet page now identifies nodes that are still using the host network and offers a redeploy action to move them behind isolation. If isolation is off, the page explains that it must be enabled first.
Bug Fixes
Legacy nodes remain unchanged until redeployed and are shown as drift; the isolation check reports them as failing. The earlier drift message about host-network and NET_ADMIN exposure has been removed.
Documentation
Upgrade guidance now explains what to expect when upgrading existing nodes.
…rk Mysterium
An upgraded worker leaves a Mysterium node from 2.0.6 or earlier running on
the host network until its owner redeploys it. The worker now reports such
nodes, and the Fleet page shows them under their worker with a Redeploy to
move behind the fence button, or says to switch isolation on first. The
redeploy reads the running node's identity before replacing it and holds the
new node, volume untouched, if the identity differs.

Walkthrough
The isolation status now reports managed containers that predate the fence. Fleet identifies these containers and, when applicable, lets owners redeploy them. Upgrade instructions describe the node’s status before redeployment and the isolation requirements.
The isolation guard records managed, fence-gated containers that predate the fence. Status returns their names and service details. Tests cover legacy nodes and clearing the report after a failed container scan.
The orchestrator holds identity mismatches in memory if recording them fails. A later deployment that records a non-mismatch identity clears the hold. Tests cover identity preservation, mismatch handling, and hold release.
Display and redeploy unfenced containers app/templates/fleet.html, tests/test_mysterium_fenced.py, UPGRADING.md
Fleet displays unfenced services and gives mode-specific guidance. Eligible owners can redeploy a service behind the fence. Tests cover the action, and the upgrade instructions describe the node’s status before redeployment.

Test the rendered redeploy button conditions.
The test checks template strings, so an inverted mode condition would still pass. Extend the existing renderFence harness to check the button for owners in on and operator modes and its absence in off, legacy, busy, and non-owner cases.

The lab showed a node held for a different identity being started again
every guard pass when the worker could not overwrite the pending record:
stopped, it read as unchecked. The hold now lives in memory as well until
the next deploy. The Fleet line in off mode names the setting to change.
A guard pass that could not list containers kept its last unfenced report,
so Fleet could offer a move for a node already moved or removed; it now
drops the report until a fresh scan. A node moved from the page is not
offered again until the worker stops reporting it.
With CAP_DAC_OVERRIDE, the marker write can succeed despite chmod. The disk marker can then hold the node, so both tests can pass without the in-memory fallback. Inject a write failure and verify that it occurred.

Test the failed redeploy path.
These assertions check source strings, not behavior. A regression could hide the warning and retry button after a failed deploy while still satisfying them. Reject the CP.api request in a behavioral test and assert that both remain visible.

The harness runs the Fleet page's own render code with the page's globals;
the moved-node set added for the move button was missing from it, so every
case failed with a ReferenceError.
A move over a running node that did not answer its identity went ahead
with nothing to compare the new one against, so it could run on another
keystore unchecked; it is now refused before the node is touched, and a
stopped node is still replaced without the check. A redeploy also lifts a
mismatch hold kept only in memory, keeping the identity to match.

Problem
After the upgrade, a Mysterium node from 2.0.6 or earlier keeps running on the host network until its owner redeploys it. That is on purpose: a worker upgrade must not stop a paying node. But the only signs of it were the drift line and a red Check isolation result. Nothing on the Fleet page told the owner what to do, or let them do it in one click.

The worker reports fence-gated containers still on the host network (
unfencedin its isolation status). It still leaves them running as they are.On the Fleet page, under its worker, the node shows as still sharing the host's network:
onoroperatormode, with a Redeploy MystNodes to move behind the fence button;legacymode, with the order: switch isolation on first (the existing Turn on isolation button), then redeploy;offmode, with the setting to change (CASHPILOT_ISOLATION=autoand a restart), then redeploy;The button does the same redeploy the dashboard does.
