Repin install-whitaker to the 0.2.11 revision - #573
Repins every leynos/shared-actions reference to 5a99aed78ce68dcebd3052b75c31e6f173162b1e (shared-actions #651, approved by concordat QG-002), including install-whitaker, whose default installer is 0.2.11 and builds the Dylint driver from a verified Clippy snapshot (upstream Dylint 6.0.1 clones Clippy's deleted master branch). The workflow contract allows the estate one shared-actions commit, so the repin covers ci.yml, coverage-main.yml, dependabot-automerge.yml, mutation-testing.yml and audit.yml, the coverage tool cache key (SHARED_ACTIONS_PIN) and the two tests that name the pin. 6cec89ba is an ancestor of 5a99aed7.
Since #567 merged, main carries WHITAKER_INSTALLER_VERSION: '0.2.11' plus an installer-sha256 workaround, because the previous pin's digest manifest had no 0.2.11 entry. The new pin's installer-digests.sha256 lists 0.2.11 for every platform, so the workaround (WHITAKER_INSTALLER_SHA256, its installer-sha256 input and its cache-key line) is removed; WHITAKER_INSTALLER_VERSION stays at 0.2.11.
No trailing version comments are added after uses: pins.
Other Whitaker paths outside the action (cargo dylint, binstall whitaker, DYLINT_*): none; Whitaker runs only through install-whitaker and the Makefile's whitaker wrapper.
Evidence: after make deps, make test-workflow-contracts passes (619 passed, 1 skipped) and make lint-actions passes; the real Whitaker run is in this PR's build job log (Install Whitaker and Whitaker lint steps).
Supersedes #574, which re-applied #567's audit content before the user merged it; everything in #574 that #567 did not already carry is dropped.

The description directly matches the changeset. It explains the shared-actions repin, the install-whitaker revision, the Whitaker installer version, and removal of the installer digest workaround.
Full details: Testing (Overall)
Explanation
The pull request changes only .github/workflows/ci.yml: it updates the Whitaker installer pin and the shared-action revision (lines 38 and 445-448). It adds no repository functionality. Existing workflow contract tests substantively check that Whitaker uses the shared installer action, that installation precedes linting, that the action uses the external cache, and that all shared-action references use one full immutable SHA (tests/workflow_contracts/tool_installation_test.py:36-58, 121-160). The third-party installer behaviour is exercised by the CI lint step and does not require new tests under the stated exemption.
Full details: User-Facing Documentation
Explanation
Treat this change as CI maintenance, not user-facing functionality. The pull request changes only .github/workflows/ci.yml: it updates the Whitaker installer version and the pinned install-whitaker action revision. It does not change the application, CLI, API, or user workflow, so docs/users-guide.md and a migration document do not require updates.
Full details: Module-Level Documentation
Explanation
The pull request changes only .github/workflows/ci.yml. It updates the Whitaker installer version and the install-whitaker action pin. It adds or removes no module, so the module-level documentation condition does not apply.
Full details: Testing (Property / Proof)
Explanation
PASS — The pull request changes only two fixed CI values: WHITAKER_INSTALLER_VERSION and the pinned install-whitaker SHA in .github/workflows/ci.yml. It introduces no invariant over a range of inputs, states, orderings or transitions, and it introduces no lemma or proof assumption. Existing workflow contract tests cover the small fixed pin contract, including full-SHA action pins and the Whitaker action path (tests/workflow_contracts/tool_installation_test.py:130-159). A property test or exhaustive proof is not warranted.
Full details: Testing (Compile-Time / Ui)
Explanation
PASS — the pull request changes only two CI workflow pins in .github/workflows/ci.yml: WHITAKER_INSTALLER_VERSION changes to 0.2.11, and the install-whitaker action revision changes. It introduces no Rust or TypeScript compile-time behaviour and no text-based or UI-adjacent output. A trybuild test or snapshot test is therefore not applicable.
Full details: Unit Architecture
Explanation
Pass the Unit Architecture check. The PR changes only two values in .github/workflows/ci.yml: the Whitaker installer version and the immutable install-whitaker action revision. It adds no query, command, domain, dependency, or test unit. The existing explicit workflow boundary remains unchanged: the job passes installer-version to the pinned action, and the action declares the 0.2.11 default and explicit input validation (shared-actions, commit 6e99f225cb06684f9e6f89b63a7ca4a04095c067, .github/actions/install-whitaker/action.yml, lines 5-18 and 91-126).
Full details: Domain Architecture
Explanation
PASS. Keep the change as infrastructure configuration only. The reviewed range changes only .github/workflows/ci.yml: it updates WHITAKER_INSTALLER_VERSION from 0.2.9 to 0.2.11 and repins the install-whitaker action. It changes no domain model, command, repository, adapter, transport, persistence, or framework code. No domain-boundary violation is introduced.
Full details: Observability
Explanation
Pass. The pull request changes only CI tool configuration: it updates WHITAKER_INSTALLER_VERSION and the pinned install-whitaker action reference in .github/workflows/ci.yml; it does not change production services, request paths, storage, queues, or runtime telemetry. The workflow retains explicit Install Whitaker and Whitaker lint steps (lines 445-452), so installer or lint failures remain visible as failed CI steps. No new operational failure mode requires production logs, metrics, tracing, or alerts.
Full details: Testing (Unit And Behavioural)
Explanation
The workflow change breaks the existing behavioural contract test. .github/workflows/ci.yml:446 changes only install-whitaker to 5a99aed78ce68dcebd3052b75c31e6f173162b1e, while the other shared-action references remain at 6cec89bac47a21cf756d68d638a9a510998e57f8. tests/workflow_contracts/tool_installation_test.py:140-147 requires one shared-actions commit for the whole estate. CI runs this test through Makefile:374-377. The pull request adds no test for the changed external action integration.
Resolution
Restore the one-commit invariant by updating the remaining shared-actions references and related pin contracts to the reviewed compatible revision, or explicitly revise that invariant for split pins. Add a workflow contract or end-to-end CI test that checks the Whitaker action pin and installer-version 0.2.11. Run make test-workflow-contracts before merging.
Full details: Developer Documentation
Explanation
The pull request changes a CI tooling requirement: .github/workflows/ci.yml:38 raises WHITAKER_INSTALLER_VERSION from 0.2.9 to 0.2.11, and .github/workflows/ci.yml:444 changes the install-whitaker action revision. Only the workflow changes. docs/developers-guide.md:334-355 documents the general Whitaker installation policy, but it does not record the required installer version, the action revision, or the reason for this toolchain change.
Resolution
Update the Installers section of docs/developers-guide.md to state that CI requires whitaker-installer0.2.11 through leynos/shared-actions/.github/actions/install-whitaker at 5a99aed78ce68dcebd3052b75c31e6f173162b1e, and record the verified Clippy snapshot requirement that motivated the repin. Keep the guide aligned with future workflow pin changes.
A workflow pin moves on, Whitaker’s version now reads two-eleven. The shared action shifts its place, CI follows the updated trace, One small change records the path.

Move every shared-actions reference, the coverage tool cache key and the
tests that name the pin to the approved 5a99aed78ce68dcebd3052b75c31e6f173162b1e
(concordat QG-002). That revision carries the whitaker-installer 0.2.11
digests, so the installer-sha256 workaround for the older pin goes.
@coderabbitai CI and CodeScene are green at this head. This change repins every shared-actions reference to 5a99aed7 (the single commit the estate contract allows), including install-whitaker with installer 0.2.11, and removes the installer-sha256 workaround because that revision's digest manifest lists 0.2.11. The build job's Whitaker lint step ran for real (it built the Dylint driver at v6.3.0 and passed). Do you see any error-level pre-merge check rows or unresolved findings that should block merging it?
@wafflecat-df12Treat the saved testing failure as stale, not as a current code blocker. At head 612a93e, I verified:
build, coverage, CodeScene, and Gecko Security passed. No returned check failed.
The shared-action references in .github/workflows/ci.yml use 5a99aed78ce68dcebd3052b75c31e6f173162b1e.
WHITAKER_INSTALLER_VERSION is 0.2.11, and the Whitaker step has no installer-sha256 input.
Separate the saved assessments from the current review state:
Item
Assessment
Testing (Unit And Behavioural) — failed, error-level
The saved failure concerns mixed action revisions. The current workflow fixes that mismatch. The saved assessment has not been rerun here.
Developer Documentation — failed, warning-level
This is not an error-level blocker.
Two unresolved review threads
Both concern the same mixed-revision defect. Neither establishes a remaining code defect at this head.
Clear the stale review state before treating the PR as fully cleared. GitHub still reports reviewDecision: CHANGES_REQUESTED, and both the CodeRabbit and Codex threads remain unresolved. GitHub also reports MERGEABLE and CLEAN; those values do not clear the outstanding review decision.
I see no remaining technical blocker in those findings. Refresh the saved pre-merge assessment and have the reviewers clear the superseded change requests. This reply does not change approval or thread status.
I couldn't check this conversation for new learnings, so no new learning was saved.
