Win32 Platform Notes

Things needed to bring the Win32 Chromium shell to parity with OSX:

  • Implement alert/prompt/confirm (Jorge)
  • Make exe compile with dynamically loaded chrome.dll (Marshall)
  • Implement minimizeToTray / minimize / maximize etc (Jorge)

Already finished:

  • Restructuring / refactoring of code into a non-spaghetti pile (In progress, Jorge)
  • Get gears compiling in win32 from Rakefile (Marshall)
  • Figure out how to point Chromium at a custom Plug-ins directory for app distribution (Jorge)
  • Match native<→JS bindings found in Javascript Native Bindings (Marshall/Jorge)
  • First-pass parse of the tiapp.xml (Marshall)
  • Packaging/Launch support in package:project for win32 (Marshall)

Tenatively decided Win32 distribution structure:

$(AppName)-$(AppVersion)/
-- chrome.dll
-- $(AppName).exe
-- Resources/
---- tiapp.xml
---- [application content]
-- plugins/
---- gears_titanium.dll
---- etc
