fix(collab-net): allow live sessions above 64 MiB and report accurate transport limits (#857) - #889
Conversation
… transport limits (storytold#857) - Configure server write loop in hub.rs with max_server_message so outgoing ServerMsg payloads above 64 MiB (e.g. document snapshots in Welcome messages) are delivered without socket termination. - Set core max_message_bytes in local live session HostConfig to max_server_message. - Map tungstenite Capacity errors in guest read loop to Outcome::Failed with accurate size limits rather than Outcome::Refused which falsely reported 'The host refused'. - Add loopback tests verifying Welcome delivery above client message limits and accurate diagnostics on client capacity overrun.

645-673: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | 🏗️ Heavy liftAdd a regression test that exceeds the former 64 MiB Welcome ceiling.
The two new loopback tests use 3,000-character documents. Their limits split client and server message sizes, and neither exceeds 64 MiB. The PR's headline behavior, live sessions above 64 MiB, therefore has no test at that scale. A reintroduced 64 MiB ceiling would not fail either new test. The Welcome test name is accurate because its scope is the client/server split. The PR summary's phrase "large Welcome delivery" overstates what the fixture covers.
A proportionate test copies the existing Welcome test and uses a document just above 64 MiB. It raises the server and core limits above the document size. Run it with

NetLink::hostin the large Welcome test.
welcome_larger_than_64_mib_is_deliveredsetsHostConfig.core.max_message_bytesdirectly and callsHost::start. It bypasses the changedNetLink::hostinitialization. Existing session tests reachNetLink::host, but they use small documents and default limits. A regression that restores the 64 MiB core limit can therefore pass while large local live-session snapshots fail. Route this ignored test throughNetLinkandcollab.hostinstead of constructingHostConfigdirectly.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

Use a join-specific reason only before the welcome.
If a host sends an oversized change after the guest has joined, Driver::message in crates/collab-net/src/driver.rs and read_loop in crates/collab-net/src/guest.rs still call too_large. The final status then says the file is too large to join, although the oversized change interrupted an active session. Select the failure text using the connection’s welcome state so the user sees the actual cause.

Restore exact limit formatting.
For a configured limit of 1.5 MiB, >> 20 reports “1 MB”; a limit below 1 MiB reports “0 MB”. Format the configured byte count without truncation, and update the template and translations for any additional units. This repeats the exact-limit concern raised and resolved on the earlier guest.rs implementation.
