Summary

  • Add ValidationCoverage / ValidationCheckResult / ValidationScope to the validation proto (suite state separate from findings; truncated snapshots mark suites PARTIAL).
  • Populate coverage on ValidateEventModel and ValidateProject via snapshot_with_truncation (strategic skipped without EventModel.id).
  • Document the landed wire in docs/explanation/validation-coverage.md. Write/merge envelopes and incomplete CLI exit remain follow-ups.

Test plan

  • cargo test -p trogon-atlas-server --test handler_tests validate_event_model
  • cargo test -p trogon-atlas-server --test handler_tests validate_project_reports_the_strategic
  • Proto / Rust CI on the PR

Made with Cursor

Add ValidationCoverage to ValidateEventModel and ValidateProject so
callers can see which suites ran, effective scope, and snapshot
truncation instead of inferring completeness from an empty issue list.

PR Summary

Medium Risk
Changes validation RPC responses and how CI/agents must interpret empty findings; write paths unchanged but clients may need to adopt new proto fields.

Walkthrough

ValidateEventModel and ValidateProject now return validation coverage with their findings. Coverage reports check states, effective scope, and snapshot-truncation status.

Validation Coverage Responses

Layer / File(s) Summary
Coverage contract and helpers
proto/trogonatlas/api/eventmodel/v1alpha1/validation.proto, rsworkspace/crates/trogon-atlas-server/src/validation.rs
The API defines ValidationCoverage, ValidationCheckResult, and ValidationScope. Server helpers create check results and mark checks as partial when snapshots are truncated.
RPC coverage assembly
rsworkspace/crates/trogon-atlas-server/src/service.rs, rsworkspace/crates/trogon-atlas-server/tests/handler_tests.rs, docs/explanation/validation-coverage.md
The validation RPCs include coverage for their checks and scopes. Handler tests verify coverage states and counts. The documentation describes coverage availability and fields.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 4 functions across 2 files. (3 skipped: 2 unsupported, 1 too large.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

A rabbit checks the fields in rows,
And counts each check as coverage grows.
If snapshots end before the view,
A partial mark tells what is true.
The scope comes back with findings too.

ValidateProject store hygiene still scans the full visible snapshot.
Report that as effective_scope and keep the caller's filter on
requested_scope so namespace-scoped calls do not mis-attribute findings.
