a digital asset that can be transferred (not simply copied) between two parties over the internet without requiring the consent of any other party. Similar to paid API keys, tokens represent both access to and usage meters of blockchain networks. When you buy a token, you are buying a private key on the blockchain - the right to register a transaction into the distributed ledger.
